    Liked the bit on old vs. new media! If the bike industry and bike press are behind the times, the advocacy orgs are 5x worse! Help me wake these people up, willya? Imagine what we could accomplish…

    I’ve listened to every episode so far, and times change of course, but I think you guys are starting to take yourselves *way* too seriously.

    Maybe that’s the point – it’s an industry forum rather than a consumer one – but you used to have a sense of perspective *and* a sense of humour. It’s pretty tough listening now.

    On the plus side, nice to hear a Scottish voice! I understood every word. Every single word… did James actually stop talking, or did you just fade him out?

    Phew! I was worried that we had lost our senses of humor! 😉

    Perhaps we should go back to the evening versions of The Spokesmen. We were quite jovial in that episode.

    I’m sold on electric bikes. We converted an old hard-tail mountain bike (with seat-post suspension) for my wife. Her asthma no longer affects her on steep hills. Unfortunately for me, when she turns up the assist I can’t catch her. Adding the pedal assist resurrected a bike that had seen it’s best days. The assist compensates for the old gearing and weight. Regenerative braking compensates for the old cantilever brakes. The frame is large enough and strong enough for the battery and anything we might want to put in the trunk bag. The 26″ x 2″ tires with a road tread provide more than enough traction for the assist no matter what the road conditions. Everyone who rides this bike loves it. We turn up the assist before they get on for the first time so that as soon as they take off they say ‘Whoa!’
