    Re David’s tip — I don’t think I would’ve admitted to that, but it’s pretty funny 🙂

We’ve all done stuff like this. I’m just confident enough to admit it. 😉

And no, I’ve never worn my bibs outside my jersey. :-p

Love the show, but something is driving me crazy. Your set introduction to the show ends with the words “so, without further introduction, here are the Spokesmen.” Then, of course, you start the show and, immediately, introduce the participants.

Obviously this is not going to keep me from listening, but it’s one of those things that, once you notice it, is like fingernails on the blackboard!

I’ve been waiting for someone to bring that up. I laugh about it every time I edit a new show together and wonder if anyone notices.

Perhaps we should have a contest for someone to write a new intro. 😉

Thanks for listening, even through the nails on the chalkboard!

While I agree that James Martin’s comments are bad PR for Tesla (and are certainly not condoned by the company), I think the silence of electric cars is a legitimate concern. I have heard discussion on that very topic for many years, so I am sort of glad that Mr. Martin’s deranged comments are giving the issue a bit of attention. In the US, traffic fatalities top 40,000 annually and show no sign of decline. Even with someone who is not a psychopath behind the wheel, an electric car that very quiet and is designed to be driven fast is certainly not going to help us to reduce our horrific fatality rate (which is way out of line with other industrialized nations).

From an environmental standpoint, a car like the Tesla roadster may be slightly better than the average gas guzzling sports car. From a road safety standpoint though, I view it as just another overpowered sports car that will probably appeal disproportionately to aggressive drivers like Mr. Martin. But hey…at least they can feel good about being “green” while they out there driving like maniacs.

How about: “And now … let’s meet … the Spokesmen” then you can jump right in with the intros.

A subject that has come up in your recent podcasts is the anger shown by drivers towards bicyclists. On there is a very interesting article called “Fear of Cycling”. The fifth part of this article has much to say about where the driver’s anger comes from. It is worth you while to check it out.

One other interesting item is a book by David Byrne, “Bicycle Diaries”, which looks interesting.
